Privacy Policy

Last updated August 10, 2026.

Hay Day ("we," "us") is operated by Bristol Jones Group LLC. This policy explains what information we collect through alfalfamarket.com, why we collect it, and how it's used. Hay Day is a marketplace connecting hay growers and buyers โ€” it isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in, we collect your email address. We don't use passwords โ€” we send a one-time sign-in link to your email instead, so we never store a password for your account. You may optionally add your name.

Grower and listing information

Growers provide a farm name, location, and optional bio, plus details about each hay listing (cutting, bale type, quantity, price, quality/grade information, and any notes you add). A location you enter is converted to map coordinates using OpenStreetMap's free Nominatim geocoding service, so listings can be found by region and shown on a map.

Orders and messages

Placing or fulfilling an order involves quantity, price, a pickup or delivery address, and requested dates, shared between the buyer and grower on that order. Buyers and growers can message each other about an order; those messages are visible to both parties on the order.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Hay Day never sees or stores your card number or other payment card details โ€” Stripe collects that directly. Growers who want to receive payouts complete Stripe Connect onboarding, which is handled entirely by Stripe; we store only the resulting account reference and its status (e.g., whether payouts are enabled).

Ratings

After an order is fulfilled, buyers and growers can rate and leave a comment about each other. Ratings and comments are shown publicly on the relevant profile.

Tax-exemption documents

Buyers who qualify for a sales-tax exemption may optionally submit a reference number and upload a proof document (e.g., an exemption certificate). Uploaded documents are stored in private cloud storage and are only accessible to you and to Hay Day staff reviewing the exemption request โ€” they are never shown publicly.

Buyer alerts

If you set up a saved-search alert, we store the criteria you choose (location, radius, grade, price, quantity) so we can email you when a matching listing is posted.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It's cryptographically signed so it can't be tampered with, and it isn't used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share information with

We share information with the service providers that make Hay Day work, and only as needed for them to provide that service:

We also share order details (quantity, price, pickup/delivery info) between the buyer and grower on that order, since both parties need that information to complete the transaction. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hay Day, our users, or the public.

How long we keep information

We keep account and order information for as long as your account is active, since past orders, invoices, and ratings remain useful to both parties. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your personal profile information. Financial records tied to completed orders (e.g., for tax and accounting purposes) may be retained as required by law even after account deletion.

Your choices

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), signed session cookies, and payment processing handled entirely by Stripe rather than by us. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data protected.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
